Ozark Auto Trail is an interactive body of work that ties three of my ancestral lands together in north eastern New Mexico: Cuervo, La Manga, and Montoya. The images in the two wider frames are of the landscape in San Miguel County, NM and are paired with a copies of the 1910 census record documenting my maternal great great grandparents and families prior to my great grandparents marriage in 1915. The skinnier frame is a photograph of the Montoya Cemetery where my great great grandparents are buried, embedded with earth from the surrounding landscape.

The Ozark Trail (auto trail) was a network of locally maintained roads predating the US Federal Highway system. My great grandfather would have traveled this route in order to meet my great grandmother and later settle in Montoya.
